Abstract

We discuss the treatment offered to nominal sentences in Portuguese didactic books, which do not adequately address this sentential type. We analyze the nominal sentence taking into consideration the perspectives proposed by Émile Benveniste and the Bakhtin Circle, drawing attention to syntactic and discursive properties, especially those that allow for contrasts with the verbal sentence. We also present a proposal to analyze non-verb utterances in the classroom, with the report of a workshop on reading, writing and linguistic analysis practices in which elementary school students developed a set of activities aimed at recognizing forms and functions of nominal sentences in a variety of speech genres.

Juanito Ornelas de Avelar, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

Professor do Departamento de Linguística da UNICAMP desde 2007, na área de Gramática, e coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística da mesma instituição desde 2021. É graduado em Letras pela UFRJ e pós-graduado (mestre e doutor) em Linguística pela UNICAMP, com estágio pós-doutoral na USP e na Universidade de Estocolmo, onde também atuou como professor associado entre 2018 e 2020. 

Romulo Tiago da Silva, EMEF Getúlio Dorneles Vargas (Parobé/RS)

Rômulo Tiago da Silva possui pós-graduação lato sensu pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (2018), graduação em Letras - Português pelas Faculdades Integradas de Taquara (2012). É professor efetivo de anos finais do Ensino Fundamental da Prefeitura Municipal de Parobé, desde 2014, e professor efetivo de Ensino Médio da Rede Estadual Pública, desde 2014. Tem experiência na área de Letras, com ênfase em Língua Portuguesa. De abril de 2014 a maio de 2018, atuou como coordenador pedagógico de anos finais do ensino fundamental na EMEF Getúlio Dornelles Vargas - Parobé/RS.
