Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the (re)construction of identities of Venezuelan migrant women in Brazil during their new lives in that country. For that, it was necessary to explain in a general way the feminine migration towards some countries of the region, specifically Brazil, to identify the factors that intervene in that identity formation process, as well as to describe their experiences during their adaptation and integration into the Brazilian society. This research was based on Wenger (1998), Norton (2000), Danielewicz (2001), Barcelos (2015), Fernandes and Zanelli (2006), Barbosa (2014), Reyes (2014), Collins and Bilge (2016), among others. It has a qualitative inquiry, following the principles of the action-research methodology. Also, this article is based on the revision of the literature about the theme and the analysis of some available data from documents and reports published by international institutions. There were considered multiple theoretical perspectives to guarantee an integral comprehension of the phenomenon studied, emphasizing the challenges concerning the social and cultural integration, and the processes of identity transformation in migratory complex and diverse contexts. Some semi-structured interviews were employed to know the experiences, difficulties, goals of the participants of this research during their process of adaptation and development in Brazil as a welcoming country. Moreover, some personal narratives of those women were analyzed to identify common patterns and divergencies in their life trajectories, pointing out the influence of genre, culture, and migration of their identities. Through the completion of this paper, it is comprehended that the evolution and the identity process of the participants is in a constant movement, full of learning which integrates new habits of live in their adaptation process and facing challenges to grow inside of social structures, as well as to establish some relationships of coexistence, harmony and integration with the Brazilian people.
