Abstract
The lack of specific legislation wich alows the organization of territorial data through an Official Cadaster is a matter that directly affects the reliability of the system of Real State Publicity in Brazil. While other coutries give priority to the integration of the provided information bythe Cadaster organs with the recording of land title in the Land Registry, this country goes through an euphoria wave based on the implementation of isolated projects of geoprocessing wich in the one hand conforms powerful tools of planning, but on the other, doesn't comtemplate the cadaster juridical aspect. As far as the Registry Systemsare concerned, the main questions to be observed are: what must be registered. howthe updating and conservation process of data is managed, and how the information isavailable to the usuarv. These matters can onlybe accurately delimitated through specific legislation. This work shows the changes that happend in the legislation of land in Brazil. and sets guide lines or the sctrucutre of the so expectid National Law of Territorial Cadaster into the process of modernization.
