Abstract
A cartografia particularmente no que diz respeito à edição de mapas e atlas constitui-se em material de grande circulação e apoio a vários projetos, sejam de colonização ou de aproveitamento de solos, bem como a estudos de transportes, traçados de linhas de transmissão, oleodutos, sistemas de comunicação e uma infinidade de outras atividades, civis ou militares.
A diversificação dessa informação, de suma importância, como mapas, fotografias aéreas, desenhos, perfis, fotoíndices, mosaicos de radar e muitos outros, vem exigindo, dos que trabalham com ela, muito de criatividade na otimização de um sistema visando à atualização. (***)
Os problemas da atualidade mundial, ligados à multiplicação das fontes cartográficas e à procura e recuperação das informações geradas por elas, são evidenciadas no artigo que se comenta a seguir.
