In times of great migratory movements such as those we see today, the role of translation as well as that of autobiographical writing become pressing issues. The first is a pragmatic need for survival in the new environment; the second, an attempt to process experiences that represent deep incisions in the personal biography of migrant subjects. According to Karpinski's (2012) research on autobiography, migration and translation, our aim here is to undergo an analysis of few writings of Emine Sevgi Özdamar and Yoko Tawada, both authors living in Germany. They are representatives of a German-language autofiction that tells stories of geographical, cultural and linguistic displacements, which require multifaceted translation exercises, interlinguistic, cultural and identity-based. Writings such as these reveal the author's ethical-political role at the service of mediation and the approximation between supposedly distant languages-cultures-geographies.Downloads
