Abstract

This paper analyses the informational unit used to indicate that the following locutive space contains a unitary point of view which differs from that of the rest of the utterance. This unit is named Locutive Introducer (INT) according to the Language in Act Theory (LAT), theoretical basis of the study. The LAT departs from the Speech Acts theory and analyses the informational structure of an utterance taking into account the prosodic interface between locution and illocution. We analyzed a subcorpus of 10 texts of around 1500 words each, extracted from the C-ORAL-BRASIL corpus, containing the widest possible diaphasic variation, so aiming to obtain a broad range of illocutions and informational structures. We describe the functional, distributional, prosodic, morphosyntactic and lexical characteristics of INT in BP. The results contribute to the study of informational structure of BP and permit the linguistic comparison among languages to which the same theoretical basis has been applied.
