Abstract

Faced with the contingency of social isolation, resulting from the covid-19 pandemic, educational systems around the world were compelled to interrupt their regular functioning to operationalize remote teaching models, which occurred, predominantly, through the mediation of the camera. In this article, we will present some reflections on the way in which such mediation was imposed on teaching performance. In particular, we will take as our object the image of teaching produced by the emergency remote teaching model (ERE) from State of São Paulo, based on the broadcasting of classes by television, which are presented by teachers converted into studio teachers. When we submit this image to a theoretical-critical interpretation, based on some of the categories postulated by Theodor W. Adorno and Walter Benjamin, we deduce the assertion that the introjection of the camera as a mediation of pedagogical work implies the mobilization of knowledge linked to a type of teaching performance oriented to the representation of roles that modify the meanings of what is understood by teaching. Such meanings, in turn, converge with parameters guided by the imperative of visuality, combined with the complete fragmentation of the formative dimension.
