Abstract

Infrastructure constructions are subject to the actions of static forces, which are related to the weight of the structural body itself, and dynamic forces, such as the action of external agents in the structure, such as wind and other moving loads. Dynamic monitoring of structures is commonly performed by using geotechnical instruments, as accelerometers and extensometers. However, this paper presents an alternative geodetic technique for the dynamic monitoring of structures by performing performance analysis of a robotic total station using Continuous Direction Measurements, a methodology capable of duplicate the sampling rate of the equipment. The experiments were carried out at a fixed point on the metal walkway that connects the campus Polytechnic and Botanical of the Federal University of Paraná. The data collected from the robotic total station were compared to that with GNSS survey in continuous kinematic relative mode with frequency of 20 Hz.
