This article analyzes, according to the perspective of the Functional-Discursive Grammar, the particle incluso in sentences introduced by incluso si in written peninsular Spanish under the hypothesis that this element emphasizes the clause introduced by si, which would allow to conceive incluso and si as independents. For König (1985), Flamenco García (1999) and Rodríguez Rosique (2012) the constructions introduced by incluso si are hybrid, since they mix characteristics of conditional and concessional sentences. In this study, however, we reject such hybridism to understand that incluso can emphasizes a conditional sentence. The research universe is the CREA data bank (Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual), which has texts of diverse provenances, both spoken and written. The results show that the sentences introduced by incluso si are established in different levels and layers, playing concession rhetorical function and condition function semantic respectively. In both cases, incluso has an emphatic operator status and what changes is the particle's scope, which does not necessarily accompany the conjunction si.
