Similar to spoken languages, the concrete realization of words in signed languages is susceptible to within and across-subject variation. Aiming to illustrate this phenomenon in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), this paper reports on the analysis of three productions of six of its lexical items by 12 deaf signers from the city of São Paulo. Our results show that, in spite of the variability in some articulatory parameters, the different productions of those signs exhibit some stabibility. This fact may guarantee their perception as different realizations of the same word and not as realizations of distinct words.Downloads
