Abstract

We answer the aesthetic-political question about the neoliberal economy of gestures as a symptomatology of the contemporary, based on a clarification, interpretation, relationship and problematization of the notions of aesthetic modes (Roelofs) and functional aesthetics (Leroi-Gourhan), which makes us conjecture about the most affirmative way of thinking and finding critical solutions to the current state of programmatization and governmentality of lives, taking into account, above all, two points of discussion: the challenges of aesthetic education, in favor of functional aesthetics in technodiverse environments (Yuk Hui); the growth of cybernetic machinations, which require new paradigms to think about for social habitation and the care of self, in terms of positive organology among diverse individuations (Simondon; Stiegler). The essay offers reflective contributions – both theoretical-philosophical and conceptual – drawing on classical and contemporary references to rethink, from an anthropotechnical perspective, current challenges in the academic field of aesthetic education.
