Este artigo é o resultado de uma pesquisa conjunta realizada por uma equipe suíça e cazaque para explorar os desafios da diversidade cultural no setor da educação. A princípio o artigo explora a especificidade histórica da diversidade cultural no Cazaquistão. Em um segundo momento, propomos uma análise da noção de trilinguismo vivida neste país asiático em transição pós-soviética. Na terceira parte do artigo apresentamos diferentes conceitos teóricos usados no contexto cazaque para estudar a diversidade cultural. Por fim, o artigo apresenta as orientações de professores-pesquisadores de duas faculdades de uma Universidade Cazaque em relação à proposta educação multi-intercultural.
