Abstract

The Earth tides study has assumed more and more importance in Geodesy and Geophisics, because it implies in Geodynamics phenomena. The Earth tides have a periodic nature and is coumpounded of different periodic effects sobreposition, with different periods, of few minutes to some years. The induced crustal deformations of the Earth, as an answer to the tidal effect, depends on the regional characteristics of the crust. The achieved precision of the geodetic methods (e.g. VLBI, GPS, SLR and LLR)is in the limit of the variations of the Earth response to the tides. Then, it is necessary to measure them to describe the regional deformation. The Federal University of Parana, through its Geodesy Postgraduate Course, has been rescarching in this area since 1983. In this work, it was performed an analysis of the analogic and digital acquisition system, and their effects on the data precision, acquired with the more modern techniques. The basic elements of the analysis were the theoretical response of Earth, predicted to Curitiba station, and data obtained from a long time series acquisition at the samestation. A decisive element for high precision level be reached in the analysis was the calculus of the indirect effect of the oceans on the measurements, for the main waves of gravimetric tides, for Curitiba station. The results allow to understand both the characteristics of the employed acquisition systems and the instrumental accuracy.
