Abstract

This article aims to discuss how the lexicon used in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) becomes a terminological set by acquiring the status of a technical-scientific area, especially in Social Studies. To this end, we compiled a corpus of 88,562 words with texts retrieved from the United Nations reports and used Sketch Engine to generate simple terms with noun and adjective bases and their context of use. Building on Corpus Linguistics and Terminology, our study aims to map how the SDGs have been implemented by civil society and researchers as terminologies that can be incorporated into the process of sustainable development promoted not only by government agencies and public institutions such as city halls and state governments, but also by non-governmental organizations with a view to achieving the UN specifications by 2030.
