The context of this work is the construction of Dicionário Paralímpico, a lexicographic resource built based on the theoretical and methodological framework of Frame Semantics (FILLMORE, 1982, 1985). Considering the challenges of describing semantically the Paralympic athlete, some of which have already been explored by Oliveira (2019), the overall objective of this study is to verify the presence of semantic frames that characterize the Paralympic athlete from a diachronic perspective, starting from a corpus of news spanning the decades from 1960 to 2000, in the Brazilian context. It is a sampling corpus composed of example sentences that evoke frames related to the Paralympic athlete in these different periods. As result, an ableist view of these individuals throughout history is noted at first, reducing their attributes to the typology of their disability; and, secondly, an emergence, often conditioned by achieving good results in competitions, of conceptualizations more focused on sports performance and the social role of the Paralympic athlete, mainly from the 1980s onwards. Thus, dynamic conceptualizations are observed, which reflect the sociocognitive struggles characteristic of the reality of the Paralympic athlete in Brazil.
