Socio-discursive imageries of the victim’s role

a discursive analysis of Memórias do Cárcere, by Graciliano Ramos

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze how the narrator of Memórias do Cárcere discursively constructs the role of victim of other characters. Memórias do Cárcere is a posthumous publication by the canonical Graciliano Ramos. This work is a Brazilian classic in which Graciliano Ramos' enunciator gives a testimony of the Brazilian political period in the Vargas Era. In such reports, the narrator makes several statements to describe and to narrate the companions of the prison. It will be, therefore, in someone else's narrative that we will seek to investigate how the narrator constructs the role of a victim of other characters. That said, the theoretical-methodological basis is based on the assumptions of CHARAUDEAU (2014) and MOSCOVICI (1978). The analyzes are qualitative and linguistic-discursive about the socio-discursive imaginary of the victim's role of the other. To achieve this endeavor, we will use discursive's modes of organization, according to Charaudeau (2014). In such a way, as expected results, the presence of the socio-discursive imaginary in the discursive construction of the other is sought.
