THE TENSIONS THAT PRESIDED THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN SCIENCE AND THE CONTEMPORARY MODES OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTION - ISAIAS PESSOTTI

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the connections among literature, the history of Science and the relations with knowledge in the historical novels written by the Brazilian scientist and professor Isaias Pesotti. To this end, we problematized literature as a source to History, established the context of the novels emergence and the indications they present for a historical analysis of Science and knowledge. This paper specifically analyses the novels Aqueles cães malditos de Arquelau (1993) and Manuscritos de Mediavilla (1995) in which the author builds plots that put in motion, and in connection, characters that keep close relation with the modes, scientific or not, of knowledge production. And, more than that, the stories built by Isaias Pessotti also seek to dialogue with the History of Sciences, offering the reader the possibility to understand the tensions that presided the construction of modern Science and the contemporary modes of scientific knowledge production.
