Abstract

The contact between speakers of different languages is a prominent phenomenon in Brazil, especially in border areas with South American countries. In Roraima, there are two borders: one to the north with Venezuela and another to the east with Guyana. This work aims to analyze linguistic interferences in textual productions of Venezuelan learners of Portuguese as a Foreign Language. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, a total of ten textual productions were analyzed. The results point to an orthographic type of linguistic interference, in which the student omitted accent marks on Portuguese words and also confused graphemes. In view of a multilingual scenario, such as the one presented between Brazil and Venezuela, in which geographical borders do not always correspond to linguistic borders, this work  finds that there is a demand for the teaching of Portuguese Language to Spanish speakers in the northern region of Brazil.
