Abstract

Sight Translation (STr) competence is a relevant element in interpreter training and an essential component of professional performance in several interpretation settings. Therefore, STr practice is an integral part of well-designed interpreter training programs. After a brief introduction to the characteristics and complexity of as well as the challenges imposed by STr, and drawing on the extensive teaching experience of the author, a pedagogical approach to the acquisition of STr skills and to competent performance in this hybrid oral translation mode will be suggested.
