This article presents an analysis of the phytotoponyms found in the hydronymy of the Territory of Identity 23- Rio Corrente Basin. Language inspires new paths and plays an influential role throughout society in order to convey thoughts and emotions. From the word, man names and identifies the reality of the things that exist. In this way, investigating the lexical resources of a group contributes to understanding the reality and the aspect that its components structure the world that surrounds them. The investigation of the toponymic lexicon integrates the object of study of Toponymy, one of the branches of Onomastics, a science that studies proper designations. While Toponymy is dedicated to the study of proper names of places, Anthroponymy is based on the study of proper names of people. This article presents a toponymic analysis, whose purpose is to examine the origin and meaning of the phytotoponyms found in the hydronymy of the aforementioned territory, with the aim of promoting the elaboration of the Toponymic Atlas of Bahia (ATOBAH), one of the projects of the Nucleus of Lexical Studies (NEL), with a view to providing information about the cultural constitution of the presented location.
