The theories of French sociologist Christian Laval have become important references for researchers in the humanities. His analysis densely focuses on the dimensions of new political rationality, which cuts across government, economy, society and the state and focuses on the production of subjectivity and the regulation of existences. In this article, Laval helps us understand the course of his formulations on the so-called "New neoliberalism" supported by economic policies of austerity, the commodification of social relations and the control of financial markets as well as the role of schools in the process of production of subjectivity for the political rationality of contemporary neoliberal theory.
