This interview reflects on the multidimensionality of the evaluation and its centrality for the consolidation of the quality of the public school. The interviewee's relevant experience in this field of knowledge brings elements that make it possible to understand the theme with regard to the evaluation paradoxes; the relationship between evaluation and quality; the positioning of education professionals in relation to these policies; the limits and challenges for the realization of quality education; the counter-regulation movements and the propositional dialogue for evaluation. It also tensions the current pandemic context and points out alternatives for a socially referenced assessment.
