Abstract

We, Marileide Dias Esqueda and Igor Antônio Lourenço da Silva, professors of the Graduate Program in Linguistics and the Undergraduate Program in Translation at the Federal University of Uberlândia, enthusiastically present this thematic issue of the journal Letras & Letras, entitled Translation and Interpreting Studies: numbers, terms, and teaching issues. This joint editorial initiative adds to our trajectory of publications and consolidates our commitment to Translation and Interpreting Studies.

Author Biography

Marileide Dias Esqueda, UFU

Associate Professor of the Graduate Program in Linguistics and the Undergraduate Program in Translation at the Federal University of Uberlandia. She holds a PhD and Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics to Translation Studies at the State University of Campinas (1999 and 2005, respectively). She completed a post-doctoral internship in Translation Studies at the University of Montreal, Canada (2018-2019). Her second post-doctoral internship was completed at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2023-2024) in the same discipline. She also holds a BA in English-Portuguese Translation from the University of Sagrado Coração (1995), and a BA in Education from the University of Uberaba (2024). She completed teaching internships in Translation through the Intercampus Program at the University of Extremadura and the University of León, in Spain (1997-1998). She served as the President of the Executive Board of ABRAPT (Brazilian Association of Translation Researchers) from 2014 to 2016. She is the leader and researcher of the Translation, Technology, Teaching and Scientometrics Study and Research Group (GETTEC). Her areas of interest are: teaching and learning translation; translation and interpreting technologies; scientometrics.
