Policy for Declaration of Ethics in Publications, Good Practices Conducts and Improper Procedures in Publications (*)

Domínios de Lingu@gem, electronic ISSN 1980-5799, is dedicated to complying with good practices concerning moral conduct consistent with the scientific editing of journals, based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) code of conduct. Negligence prevention is also a crucial responsibility of the editor and the editorial team. Domínios de Lingu@gem will not accept any form of unethical behavior or plagiarism. Authors who send articles to the journal declare that their content is original and guarantee that the work has not been published or is in the process of review/evaluation in any other journal.

Furthermore, Domínios de Lingu@gem is committed to ethics and quality in publishing. Therefore, we support standards of ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in publishing in our journal: the author, journal editor, and reviewers. We do not accept plagiarism or any other unethical behavior.

Editor Duties:

  • Publication decision: The journal editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor is guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and in strict observance of legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor may consult the Editorial Board or collaborators when making decisions.

  • Fair Rules: The editor must evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, national origin, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality: The editor and members of the editorial team must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript except for the author himself, reviewers, potential contributors, or other editorial advisors, as the case may be.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: The editor must not use unpublished information in his research without the author's explicit and written consent. The editor must refrain from evaluating manuscripts in which he has any conflict of interest resulting from competitive or collaborative relationships or any other relationship or connections with any of the authors, companies, or (possibly) institutions linked/connected to the articles.

  • Participation and cooperation in investigations: The editor must take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints are filed regarding a submitted manuscript or published article.

Reviewer Duties:

  • Contribution to the Editorial Decision: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communications with the author, can also help the author improve the article.

  • Timeliness: Any selected reviewer who does not feel qualified to evaluate the research reported in a manuscript or knows that immediate review will be impossible should notify the editor and exempt themselves from the review process.

  • Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for evaluation must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown or discussed with others.

  • Objectivity standards: Comments must be conducted objectively, and reviewers must express their opinions clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Source Acknowledgment: Peer reviewers must identify relevant published works that the authors have not cited. The reviewer should also bring to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript in question and any other published document they are personally aware of.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Inside information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have any conflict of interest resulting from competitive or collaborative relationships or any other type of relationship or connections with any of the authors, companies, or (possibly) institutions linked/connected to the articles.

Author Duties:

  • Reporting Standards: Authors of original research reports must provide an accurate account of the work performed and an objective analysis of its significance. Underlying data must be accurately presented in the article. A document should contain enough detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements constitute unethical and unacceptable behavior.

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their texts are entirely original. If the authors used other authors' work and words, these must have been appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing and unacceptable behavior.

  • Multiple, redundant, or competing publications: An author should generally not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publishing it in different journals constitutes unethical publishing and unacceptable behavior.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of other people's work must always be done. Authors should cite publications that have influenced the nature of the reported work. Information obtained privately, such as through conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit written permission from the source. Information obtained during confidential services, such as arbitration manuscripts or grant applications, must not be used without the author's explicit written authorization of the work involved in these services.

  • Article Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project should also be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The author must ensure that all suitable co-authors and no inappropriate ones are included in the article and that all co-authors have seen and approved the document's final version and agreed to submit it for publication.

  • Translated articles must specify the name, Lattes, and ORCID of the translator(s).

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All authors must disclose in their manuscripts any financial or substantive/material conflict of interest that could lead to influencing results or interpretations in their manuscripts. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.

  • Fundamental Errors in Published Works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published text, they must immediately notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the text.

 Journal Duties

  • We are committed to ensuring that earning advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.
  • Our articles are reviewed to ensure the quality of scientific publications.
