The interview with Professor Paulino José Orso opens the application dossier entitled: Right to basic and higher education in times of pandemic – permanence policies and quality presents reflections on the right to education, especially in the current moment, characterized by intense political and sanitary crisis as a result of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, with worldwide repercussion, enhanced by excesses of the current Brazilian government. The author presents us a model of human formation based on a critical, creative and transformative perspective, engendered in new social relations. The interview invites us to have an important reflection and urges us to resist and criticize the breakdown of social institutions, specifically the school, in times of tough social struggles. The importance of Historical-Critical Pedagogy is also emphasized to understand the tangible reality presented in the capitalist project for the working class.
