Dilemmas and perspectives for Early Childhood Education 30 years after the promulgation of the 1988 Federal Constitution

The interview addresses aspects related to the progress achieved in the provision of Early Childhood Education, but also focuses on gaps and intermittency in the consolidating of effectiveness on the right to education of young children. Having as reference the current political and economic scenario, important reflections on the main impacts of the Constitutional Amendment 95 on the financing of Basic Education are presented, mainly for fulfillment of the National Education Plan (PNE) goals for Early Childhood Education. The interviewees also reflects on the expansion of the agreements between the public education systems and private and non-governmental organizations, on the offer of Early Childhood Education, on the main challenges for the initial and continued formation of Early Childhood educators, and on the importance of the Movimento Interfóruns de Educação Infantil do Brasil (MIEB) in the fight for Early Childhood Education that is public, socially referenced, and of high quality.
