The Brazilian Journal of Cartography (RBC) is an official publication of the Brazilian Society for Cartography, Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (SBC) in partnership with Federal University of Uberlândia. 

The Brazilian Journal of Cartography is an open access journal published regularly since 1970, with national and international coverage. Its mission is to disseminate advances in Cartography & GIS, Cadastre, Geodesy, Hydrography, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

  This issue is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Nei Erling, editor and author of editorials for the Brazilian Journal of Cartography and President of the Brazilian Cartography Society (from october of 1995 to october of 1998). He helped organize competitions and exhibitions to promote the importance of cartography in education. We extend our sincere thanks for all the advancements he fostered in Brazilian cartography.
