Rural and Agrarian Geography have a long tradition in Brazilian Geography. As branches of the geographical science, they have significantly contributed to the understanding of the dynamic, complex and conflicting contemporary rural spaces. This article offers an overview of the Brazilian academic production in this field of knowledge by presenting research groups and graduate programs and their main subjects and themes of investigation. It also provides an overview of the main periodicals and scientific conferences involved in the dissemination of the knowledge produced by Brazilian Rural and Agrarian Geography, namely the journals Campo e Território: Revista de Geografia Agrária and Revista Nera, and the main national events, ENGA and SINGA, in addition to ENANPEGE.
