Focus and scope
The Brazilian Electronic Journal of Mathematics (BEJOM) is an open-access vehicle for scientific recording and dissemination, published in continuous flow, with the following objectives:
- publish final or partial results of scientific research; reviews/revisions of scientific or academic productions; reports of experiences and educational products obtained within the scope of professional master's programs, carried out in the areas of mathematics education, statistics, pure and applied mathematics that show consistency and rigor in their approach;
- promote the dissemination of knowledge in the areas described above;
- promote exchanges with other institutions, national or international.
BEJOM's volumes are freely accessible and are organized and edited under the responsibility of the editorial board of the same and have the objective of sharing results of scientific research and/or products, which present consistency and rigor in their approach.
BEJOM accepts works in the areas of mathematics education, statistics, pure and applied mathematics, digitalized in Portuguese, Spanish or English, respecting the current spelling standards.
All articles are published with an active DOI.
The articles received are forwarded for consideration by internal and external ad-hoc consultants.
The journal's target audience are teachers and/or researchers from Basic or Higher Education Institutions, in the aforementioned areas, and the work can be carried out in partnership with students from Higher Education Institutions. In the composition of the volumes, priority is given to manuscripts submitted by authors outside the UFU, with a maximum of 50% of articles authored by internal researchers/professors being allowed.
Peer review process
The BEJOM journal uses a blind peer review process (without identifying the authors). Each article submitted is sent to two reviewers, members of the advisory board, who must issue, within a specified period, an opinion indicating whether the work: has been approved (as presented), approved with corrections, must be submitted for a new evaluation, or rejected. In case of a favorable opinion and another contrary, the article must be sent to a third member of that council. After analysis, the articles must be returned to the authors, together with a copy of the opinions. Papers that require changes must be sent to the authors to make the suggested changes and then send the corrected text electronically to the BEJOM journal.
Frequency
The Brazilian Electronic Journal of Mathematics during the period from 2020 to 2022 used the publication in annual volumes, with two issues (Jan/Jun and Jul/Dec), with a semiannual periodicity.
As of 2023, the journal began to publish in continuous flow, in annual volumes. With the adoption of continuous flow, there will be no need to wait for the final composition of the volume for the publication of each article, so that the deadline for publication will depend only on the (blind) peer review process. This promotes agility in the process of communication and availability of surveys.
Since the first issue, BEJOM has published its articles online.
Open access policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content, following the principles of democratization of scientific knowledge and aligning with open science practices.
No fees are charged for submission, processing, and publication of papers submitted to the journal. DOI registration with CrossRef is also free of charge.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication. Starting January 1st, 2025, all articles will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY), allowing unrestricted sharing of the work, provided proper credit is given to the authors and original publication in this journal.
Articles published until December 31st, 2024, will remain under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY NC), which allows sharing the work with attribution of authorship and initial publication in this journal, restricting commercial uses.
The journal is included in Editorial Policy Directories, such as Diadorim, and follows international best practices for open scientific publication.
Archiving
The BEJOM journal uses the LOCKSS digital preservation system to ensure that its publications are accessible in the long term. The journal uses the PKP PN plugin, which is a means to preserve journal content on the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). The plugin, when activated, checks for new and changed content and automatically collects it, adding your content to the PKP PN.

Editorial Project
The Brazilian Electronic Journal of Mathematics (BEJOM) is an electronic publication (online), periodical, edited since 2020, of the undergraduate course in Mathematics at the Institute of Exact and Natural Sciences of Pontal, Federal University of Uberlândia.
During the period from 2020 to 2022, the publication was used in annual volumes, with two issues (Jan/Jun and Jul/Dec), with a semiannual periodicity.
As of 2023, with the aim of promoting agility in the communication process and making research available, the journal began to publish in continuous flow, in annual volumes.
The evaluation process adopted is blind peer review.
The volumes of the BEJOM journal will be opened, organized and edited under the responsibility of the chief editor and members of the editorial board, and may comply with the graphic editing parameters defined by the Portal de Periódicos of the Federal University of Uberlândia.
The BEJOM journal is a means of scientific dissemination, in the area of mathematics, nationally and internationally, based on the dissemination of final or partial results of scientific research; reviews/revisions of scientific or academic productions; experience reports; educational products obtained within the framework of professional master's programs; texts from course completion works, monographs, master's dissertations and/or doctoral theses, provided that they show consistency and rigor in their approach.

Article evaluation and selection process
All proposals to be submitted for publication must be forwarded to internal and external ad-hoc consultants for consideration, in a blind peer review process.
Two reviewers, members of the advisory board, will issue an opinion on the work, approving it, suggesting the changes they deem necessary or disapproving. In the event of a favorable opinion and another contrary, the work will be sent to a third member of this board.
After analysis, the works will be returned to the authors, together with a copy of the opinions. Papers that require changes will be forwarded to the authors to make the suggested changes and then electronically send the duly corrected text to the BEJOM journal within 15 calendar days from receipt.
After the return of the work corrected by the author(s), the editor of the section responsible for this process, should forward the work, preferably, to the referees designated in the 1st round, so that they can verify that the corrections, insertions and/or or requested modifications were satisfactorily carried out and reassess the conditions for accepting the work.
Upon completion of the 2nd stage of evaluation, the section editor, responsible for this work, must inform the author(s) of acceptance or rejection of the manuscript. In case of acceptance, the editor of this article must ask the author(s) to send the final work, with the identification/affiliation of the author(s), in Word or LaTex format, via the SEER platform, to the BEJOM journal.
Articles submitted to the BEJOM journal will undergo investigation procedures for possible plagiarism by checking similarities, and, in the event of finding plagiarism, the editors will reject and/or make recommendations to the authors regarding the manuscript.
