Cartography in Basic Education: Reflections on the Practice of the Geography Teacher

Abstract
Cartography is one of the knowledge to be taught and learn in the discipline of Geography, in all years of Basic Education, being fundamental for the representation of geographical phenomena, and therefore for the formation of citizens. As broader is the geography formation, as broader yours ability to interpret the world will be. In the School Curriculum, Cartography is inserted in Geography as a subjects and as a language. In this article, is going to be presented a research that had as its objective diagnose the reality of teachers who taught Geography in Basic Education of Public Schools in the Municipalities of Araguari, Campo Florido, Prata, Uberaba and Uberlândia, in the Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The focus of the text will be the data related to the Geography teacher's practice in relation to Cartography taught and learned at school.
