Abstract
Em trabalhos anteriores os autores têm procurado enfatizar a importância da Geodésia Física mormente numa época em que as aplicações geodésicas dos satélites artificiais, mercê de seus extraordinários êxitos, parecem monopolizar as atenções, levando alguns estudiosos mais apressados a esquecer que nem sempre os melhores resultados decorrem da escolha de um método com total exclusão de outro(s).
Com esta introdução não pretendem os autores justificar o seu trabalho (qualquer tentativa nesse sentido seria obviamente supérflua) mas sensibilizar as instituições nacionais que operam na área das ciências geodésicas para que intensifiquem ao máximo as suas atividades gravimétricas a fim de que a nação possa, através de um esforço conjunto, cobrir a curto prazo os imensos vazios que ainda apresenta.
