Abstract

This visual essay consists of portraits of Pai Breno de Oyá, the religious name of Breno da Silva Lacerda, a priest of Batuque Gaúcho and the artist's biological father. The photographs, taken in 2025, traverse the spaces of  "Casa de Oyá," his terreiro located in Porto Alegre (RS), and reveal the priest wearing the sacred garments that symbolize the multiple spiritual entities incorporated in his religious practice.
