Abstract
This unpublished translation of the essay “Accumulating Futures” (2020) by Marina Vishmidt (1976–2024) was undertaken for inclusion in the dossier “Poetics of Involvement” (vol. 7, no. 1, 2026). The work seeks to introduce into the Brazilian context a fundamental critical reflection on temporality in contemporary capitalism, examining how the transformation of time into a commodity and neoliberal resilience obstruct the political imagination of qualitatively different futures.The significance of this translation lies in its direct dialogue with the provocations of the curatorial call, grounded in the thought of Antônio Bispo dos Santos and the critique of Donna Haraway. Vishmidt’s work offers theoretical tools for conceiving poetics of involvement as forms of resistance to necropolitics and to the naturalization of precarity. The project results from voluntary, non-profit work undertaken for strictly academic purposes. The translation process preserved the author’s stylistic density and the terminological rigor of critical theory, aiming to equip artists and researchers to question what, in the present, obstructs the future. Publication was authorized on February 11, 2026, by the author’s widower, the poet Danny Hayward.
