Abstract

The geoidal model is a fundamental part of the transformation between geometric and orthometric heights and it has gained more importance with the popularization of GNSS positioning techniques. However, to simplify, it is verified that an average density value for the crust is still being applied in the computation procedures. For this reason, this work analyzed the influence of the density value adopted in the estimation of a geoidal model. For this purpose, fixed and variable density value were estimated for the study area, using gravimetric and lithology data. These values were used in the computation of variables associated with the density values and were compared and analyzed by statistical test. As a result, it was possible to verify small differences when using different density values. In addition, it was possible to identify significant differences in some of the results, considering the statistical test applied. Consequently, it was possible to suggest that the use of variable density values may provide the development of the rigorous geoidal model.
