Abstract

This article presents a reflection about the notion of culture and cultural policy, considering the culture management process in current expansion in the Superior Education Institutions, based on the context from the Federal University of Uberlandia, institution located in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais, and which congregates a set of actions with the perspective of strengthening the institutionalism of culture in the university environment, in the promotion and fostering of cultural projects from the university community and in the articulation of knowledge exchange between the both external and internal agents in the university. The challenges are numerous in this direction, especially in the current times of dissolution of the Brazilian cultural policies. The establishment of a culture policy based on principles, directives and which point out concrete goals and actions, and also clear and precise indicators which allow the observation of the impacts caused by the given policies in the university context, as a possible way out to the strengthening and structuring culture in Brazilian universities. We highlight her also the current process of national articulation by culture agents which act in the Brazilian Education Institutions.
