The objective of this paper is to describe the construction of agroecological knowledge based on an off-mainstream methodology conducted by the Center for Studies in Agroecology and Organic Production of the Pantanal (NEAP), at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Pantanal Campus, in Corumbá/MS. To this regard, a series of theoretical-practical actions were combined in an undergraduate discipline, which was associated with an extension course. This strategy allowed the inclusion of a diverse audience, such as farmers, undergraduate and technical education students. The result of these actions was the construction of two technological showcases in rural settlements in Corumbá/MS, as well as the elaboration of new concepts for agroecology, jointly created with the participants. It is concluded that the University praxis, when associated with peasant knowledge, can generate mutual benefits for both sides.
