This text analyzes the data from the 2017 Agricultural Census, specifically the livestock production variables according to different area groups. For this purpose, it was used bibliographical documents and the Internet. The results show the efficiency and effectiveness of small agricultural establishments. On them, despite the smaller area of land, there is a concentration of animals from different branches of livestock farming. Large rural buildings are not synonymous with impressive production, despite the high concentration of areas. The groups without areas, easily referred to as landless groups, signal assent of the State with dispossessed social subjects. They, even in these conditions, carry out productive activities. The middle strata also have a presence in the livestock sector. It is deduced the perpetuation in Brazil of land used as a reserve of value, a patrimonial reserve and non-compliance with the social function of land. Likewise, there is an urgent need for agrarian reform, the establishment of a porpeta limit, with democratization of the right to land and territory, in order to guarantee social justice, income distribution and the democratization of the Brazilian countryside.
