The article proposes to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the beekeeping production chain in the Northeast, considering the socio-environmental, socioeconomic aspects and the challenges faced by beekeepers and other actors involved in the activity. This is an integrative systematic literature review, in which complete academic works published in the repositories were searched: Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, from January 2012 to June 2023. 31 articles were found distributed in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte, which have as their main data collection instruments interviews or semi-structured questionnaires, applied in most surveys with beekeepers. Among the main challenges faced by the activity in the northeast region are the lack of technical assistance, lack of appropriate equipment and technologies and difficulty in acquiring seals or certifications. With this, it is possible to conclude that studies on the beekeeping production chain in the Northeast are little published in the scientific literature. Therefore a greater effort is needed from universities together with Brazilian bodies so that research has greater support.
