THE DENSITY OF GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURES, LINEAMENT PATTERNS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH MASS MOVEMENTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF VITÓRIA (ESPÍRITO SANTO, SOUTHEAST BRAZIL)

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to analyze and relate the density of geological structures and lineament patterns with the occurrence of mass movements in the municipality of Vitória (Espírito Santo, Brazil). The methodology used is divided into three stages: Bibliographic Survey Stage - consists of carrying out and collecting bibliographic data, various thematic maps (topographic, geological and structural), satellite images and photointerpretation, as well as making a map with geological structure of the region (lineaments, faults, fracturing etc…); Field Stage and Data Collection of the study area - carried out through systematic mapping in the field with collection of structural data; Data systematization and integration - takes place in an office and consists of the analysis and interpretation of data obtained in the field, as well as the systematization and integration of existing data. These data were integrated and analyzed from the mass movement records of the Municipal Civil Defense, referring to the period between 2006 and 2020. The analysis of the results obtained demonstrates the important relationship between the lineaments and the occurrences of mass movements with the lithology, regional geological structures and neotectonic events in the state of Espírito Santo.
