This article is about a scientific initiation research carried out between 2020 and 2021 on riverside schools, having the José Sobreira do Nascimento school as a case study. These institutions were understood as fixed parts of a network of material and immaterial flows that enable elementary and secondary education in the rural area of the municipality of Manaus. For this purpose, the school river transport and class transmission networks were investigated, as this circulation enables riverside communities to access educational content from the municipal and state education secretariats. This approach took place as a result of the organization of the school based on the studied flows and on the possibilities of understanding it as a point in a network of relationships, demonstrating how the school system is related to the Amazonian territory. Despite the obstacles faced during social isolation and the consequent suspension of classes, this research allowed reflection on the planning of riverside educational institutions based on their relationship with the other components of the networks.
