Abstract

Access to education and permanence are granted by Brazilian law, and this process must respect and consider the ethnic and cultural characteristics to combat inequalities and foster equity. However, it is necessary to understand whether the initial teachers' training includes these issues suitably. The goal was to draw an overview of how diversity and inclusion are addressed in the undergraduate formation of Geography teachers in Bahia (Brazil). Through evaluating the curriculum of thirteen courses in the institutions of Bahia, to identify how each one presents, proposes, develops, and collaborates regarding the diversity of Brazilian society, recognizing the rights and considering the differences throughout the formation process. Most courses neglect these themes, both in the form and the content of their components; a significant part of courses presents the content as optional or with a reduced workload making equity a distant goal.
