Lexical and phonological variation in the expression of the concepts ‘YouTube’ and ‘WhatsApp’ in libras

In this work, we focus on the lexical and phonological variation observed in the expression of two concepts in Libras: 'WhatsApp' and 'YouTube'. We collected, through WhatsApp, data from 48 deaf people, 29 men and 19 women, between 19 and 35 years old and from six states. Our results revealed the existence of five lexical variants for 'YouTube' and three for 'WhatsApp'. In addition, we observe different realizations of each of these eight signs. Despite the phonological variability, the present work also shows stability in the production of some parameters in the different productions of the same sign.
