Between layers and colors: : the process of meaning in Folia de Reis

Abstract

The study highlights the presence of color in culture, exploring its symbolic, artistic, poetic, physical and physiological aspects during the Folia de Reis celebrations. It highlights its practices in the Triângulo Mineiro region and the complexity of the festival, which involves tradition, spectacle and renewal. It also explores the interface between photography and painting, focusing on artistic creation through figures and/or abstractionism to analyze how the hidden cores are used to create meanings at the party, taking into account local cultural elements and the festive environment. To express the cultural richness of Folia de Reis and emphasize the importance of color in the construction of meanings, the photographer-researcher uses photographic records, with the overlaping technique, marking the creative autonomy in the post-production of photographs, giving new meaning to the images in baroque compositions.
