Abstract

This text presents the dossier “I was here all the time and you didn’t see me: challenges and achievements of contemporary Brazilian indigenous art”, organized together with Kássia Borges, for the Estado da Arte magazine. The author points out that the set of texts gathered in this edition contribute to the thought and understanding, in the academic and artistic universe, of what the work of art and the creative act in the context of indigenous peoples consist of. It conceptualizes, through the acronym MEIN, the Indigenous Aesthetic Manifestations, which bring together the diversity of artistic-cultural expressions that focus and discuss the contemporary art of the native peoples of Brazil.
