The District Limits’ Evolution of the City of Rio de Janeiro: A Cutout of the 20th Century

Abstract
The city of Rio de Janeiro, since its foundation, has passed for deep changes in your spatial frame. About this fact, this
research will develop the evolution of administrative boundary district’s of Rio de Janeiro through a historic, geographic
and cartographic study. Thus, to aim this objective, were necessary to use a theoretical and methodological concepts
of the Historical Cartography, Digital Cartometry and Historical GIS (HGIS). The temporal cut comprehends the end
of the 19th century (beginning of the republican government) to the half of the 20th Century.
