Starting from the challenge of consolidating a social base aiming to support the Escola Família Agrícola Regional (EFAR), located in Brotas de Macaúbas/Bahia/Brazil, and taking the Pedagogy of Alternation as a basis for analysis, it reflects how the basic work and participatory research they intensify the potential for social transformation resulting from the educational action of the school itself. We want to demonstrate that the formative spaces/times, school and community, prescribed in the alternation pedagogy itself, are enhanced with the association of educational action as basic work along the lines of popular education. We also want to demonstrate how the pedagogy of alternation dialogues with participatory research, deepening knowledge about the realities of students. To this end, we seek to contextualize social formation in Brotas de Macaúbas within the Brazilian context.
