Due to its longevity and importance in national agriculture, sugarcane work arouses interest in several areas of knowledge. Based on this, the objective of this article is to understand the field of studies that is being formed to analyze the phenomenon of work in sugarcane production. Among the mechanisms commonly used to understand a field of study, bibliometric and scientometric tools stand out. To use such tools, a survey of academic production available on the CAPES Periódicos Portal regarding this topic was
carried out. After collection and necessary adjustments, 233 articles were found. The results show that production was more intense between the years 2009 and 2021. It is noteworthy that the areas of Human Sciences, Health Sciences and Applied Social Sciences were the areas of knowledge that had the most representation both in terms of authors and journals in that such studies have been published. The scientific community that forms this field of study is dispersed and most of the work is individual. Finally, the main topics discussed were: occupational health and safety, migration, mechanization and overexploitation.
