Family peasant farmers are those who, through land tenure and access to available natural resources, seek to solve their productive and reproductive problems through extractive, agricultural and non-agricultural rural production. The objective is to analyze the decision-making process of the peasant family to seek or not to seek non-agricultural work. For this, through an interdisciplinary approach, qualitative and quantitative methods were used to analyze the phenomenon of pluriactivity in the community of Terra de Areia, municipality of Mojuí dos Campos, in the region of Pará's lower Amazon. In the light of the peasant investment theory, a pattern has been identified among peasant families that engage in non-agricultural activities. These have land, labor or both restrictions.
