The objective of this study is to analyze the acquisition of food from family farming by the PNAE in Brazilian municipalities between 2011 and 2019. For this, secondary source microdata made available by FNDE were used, and tables, graphs, and maps were created. The results highlight a progressive increase in acquisitions over the period, with the years 2018 and 2019 standing out for meeting the legal requirement of allocating at least 30% of FNDE resources to the purchase of these foods. A more detailed analysis revealed that municipalities with up to 5 thousand inhabitants performed better in meeting this target, while municipalities with 10 thousand to 20 thousand inhabitants were those that most often failed to reach the stipulated minimum target. However, the positive trend did not spread uniformly across the country. Only the South region managed to reach the proposed target (34.54%). Considering the states, only six of them comply with the legal obligation: Espírito Santo (31.64%), Santa Catarina (33.29%), Acre (33.52%), Rio Grande do Sul (33.8%), Paraná (35.99%) and Roraima (41.35%).
