INDICES DE VEGETACAOAbstract
The green areas in cities are extremely important for the quality of life and environmental balance. To measure the temperature and the green areas present in the municipality of Montes Claros, was a survey of data from these areas, allowing for proper planning and even to improve the quality of life for residents and their future generations. This study aimed to analyze the afforestation and the temperature of the city of Montes Claros MG, quantifying and correlating the data obtained through remote sensing imagesfrom Landsat-TM5 processed by the computer application SPRING 5.1.7 and calculated by the method LEGAL analysis. The largest high NDVI values indicated a high photosynthetic activity or the presence of abundant vegetation, while low values of NDVI indicate low photosynthetic activity or the presence of densely populated urban areas or areas of exposed soil, so it was possible to quantify the proportion of vegetation existing in the sample districts and correlate them with the degree of temperature at different levels of NDVI. The Vegetation Index and temperature showed a weak correlation between them, but it is advisable to individual use of each technique, for areas of high, medium and low temperatures and high, medium and low trees.
